On June 28, 2023, STISIM Drive, the leading driving simulation technology for clinical therapy, partnered with The OT Lifestyle Movement to present an online panel discussion for occupational therapists titled How To FInd Your Passion & Purpose In Occupational Therapy.
This one-hour event was conducted live via Zoom and was inspired by the new documentary film, Finding Me In OT, from director and Occupational Therapist, Rhiannon Crispe. After opening remarks from Fran Nelbach, Director of Product Development at Systems Technology Inc. (makers of STISIM Drive), Rhiannon led an engaging conversation with fellow OTs, Bridget Mathis, MOT/OTR who serves as the Senior Clinical Specialist for STI; and Kavitha Murthi, an OTR that is finishing up her Ph.D. at NYU.
“Back in April, Finding Me In OT had its world premiere at AOTA’s Inspire conference, which was followed by a short panel discussion,” said Crispe, who is also the founder of The OT Lifestyle Movement. “While the discussion was only 20 minutes long due to time restraints, the audience was so engaging and curious we had to continue the conversation in a more interactive and longer format.”
The event was free and open to the public, for occupational therapists and all professionals, and continued a collaboration between STISIM Drive and The OT Lifestyle Movement.
“We once again had a really amazing experience collaborating with Rhiannon on a project related to her important film,” said Mathis. “It’s always super inspiring to be with fellow OT’s, like her and Kavitha, talking about our profession and our place within it. The audience was engaging, offering up some really great questions that made it truly interactive. We have a really strong shared occupational therapy community and I’m so proud to be a part of it and involved in events like this that can help others succeed within the profession.”
Nearly 270 occupational therapists and other professionals registered for the event, doing so from 11 different countries. Although not all questions were answered live, over 30 questions were submitted from attendees.
