Screening Serves As Official World Premiere of Finding Me In OT

February 17, 2023, Hawthorne, CA — STISIM Drive, a driving simulation technology developed by Systems Technology Inc., will be hosting the first U.S. screening of the new film, Finding Me In OT, on April 20, at the American Occupational Therapy Association’s (AOTA) Inspire Annual Conference & Expo.

This 60-minute documentary is directed by occupational therapist, Rhiannon Crispe, and tells the story of her personal journey to once again find meaning and purpose in her work. In doing so, the film also features interviews with several of the most prominent occupational therapy professionals and scholars in the world.

“I’m extremely excited and honored to have Finding Me In OT premiering at the AOTA Inspire conference,” said Crispe. “The response to the film within our professional community has been incredibly humbling. I look forward to seeing how the attendees of the conference receive the messages woven throughout the film.”

Profiles of Finding me in OT experts
Experts featured in the film (L to R, top to bottom): Dr. Winnie Dunn, Dr. Michael Iwama, Dr. Lela Lorens, Dr. Carolyn Baum, Kim Barthel, Dr. Charles Christensen, Jen Gash, Rhiannon Crispe, and Kavita Murthi.

Inspire is the largest conference in the world that is dedicated to the profession of occupational therapy. The film screening, along with a panel discussion at its conclusion, will be part of the conference’s official education program, offering occupational therapists and students contact hours for attending.

“We have been collaborating with occupational therapists for over 20 years in developing STISIM Drive.  This is a tremendous opportunity to show our appreciation to the community that does so much to help others,” said Fran Nelbach, Product Director at Systems Technology Inc. “Whether you’re an experienced professional, or a student just embarking on your career in occupational therapy, this film is essential and important. At some point we all question our chosen professions. Rhiannon’s film serves as a reminder of how rewarding it is to work in OT.”

A 30-minute discussion panel will begin at the conclusion of the film, featuring Crispe via video, as well as two panelists in person: Kavita Murthi, MS, OTR; and Bridget Mathis, MOT, OTR. Audience members will be encouraged to ask questions and provide their input on the film.

“Just as I did for my OT career, I started making this film as a way to help people … other OT’s dealing with the same questions and feelings I experienced,” said Crispe. “By telling my story, and by showcasing the wise words of some amazing people in our field, I hope that the film inspires the hearts and minds of occupational therapists and reminds them of the power and potential of our work.”

This year’s Inspire conference takes place in Kansas City, Missouri, April 19 – 23, at the Kansas City Convention Center. Finding Me In OT will screen on Thursday, April 20, from 5:30pm CT to 7:00pm CT, in the City Beautiful Ballroom D at the Loews Hotel, which is connected to the Convention Center.
